I suppose it was inevitable, considering how big a mess Bush has made over the last couple years, or rather, how ineffective he has been with cleaning up the messes that others have made.  Deservedly or not, he made being Republican a bad thing.

Now we've got a democrat about to take over the white house.  That in itself was a given right from the get-go, considering how the left-leaning media hyped Obama as the second coming and all that.  Hopefully, once he gets in office, Obama will realize just how bad radical changes would hurt everyone.  Also, hopefully, he'll be more concerned with how to get re-elected in 2012, which means not screwing things worse than they already are.

Worse for me is how my state and local governments have gone to the democrats.  People don't realize how lousy our governor has been for the last eight years, or how his female clone who will succeed him will continue the downward spiral of our state.

The absolute worst is the county commission.  For years it's been evenly split between the liberals and conservatives, but not any more. It's set in stone that when the dems control the county, they WILL RAISE PROPERTY TAX.  They've already voted to have a 'revaluation' early (which I thought was against state law.)  That means the taxes go up without them raising the rate.

My disgust widens with the way the sheep in this area pass bonds.  Every single one of them passed again, by a wide margin.  When will people realize that money is going into a black hole and we'll have our property tax go right up again to pay for it (so we protect our city/county credit rating.)

So, as crap like "The Fairness Doctrine" and "The Assault Weapon Ban" (look past the name, it was dramatically more repressive against normal civilian weapons than against the very few who own military weapons) rear their ugly heads again, I just have to put my head down and hope the voters in this country realize what a huge blunder they've made in 2012.

Just Delete It!

About every third time I try to clean out my message box here I get:

sntd

I know it's because I don't wait for that stupid little "Saving" box to clear up at the corner, but why should I have to when all I'm doing is deleting messages I've read?

Part of the problem is how they've foisted the "Daily Deviations" on us again by putting them at the bottom of the messages page.  Guess what, DA.  If I wanted to see those (and the 'artful' crap nakedness that's always picked) I'd go to the main page (I never go there.)  Now you just make my messages page take four or five times longer to load.

I want the old version of DA back.

I can't stand ads.  Commercials, ads in magazines, whatever.  There, I came out and said it, despite knowing why it's necessary, I still hate 'em.

Now, fortunately, I don't see all that many ads on the internet any more because of the settings I use on my browser.  I can even block specific annoying pictures (hear that, you annoying prats with your glittering, flashing, slow loading sigs?)

Here's what I have to stay to internet advertisers:  If it gets through my spam/ad blockers and I see it, you can be certain you will never get a dime from me if at all possible.  Send me SPAM, you've cost yourself a customer.  Spend all kinds of money to make your pop-up cut through all the blocking software, you've wasted it on me.

I invite everyone who reads this to boycott anybody who advertises in this way.  Make the really intrusive ads so cost ineffective they go away.  See, that's why there's so much SPAM, because IT MAKES PEOPLE MONEY BECAUSE THERE ARE ENOUGH IDIOTS WHO BUY THE CRAP.

Feeling Old

Just got home from an impromptu "Date Night" at the mall, and it occurred to me that the "Album" I bought was actually the third time I've bought it.  The first was vinyl (this was long before CDs started coming out.)  That one got played to death, though I still have it.  The second was a cassette, because even though I had a really nice BSR belt-drive turntable, I really didn't have a good recording tape deck to transfer it for playing in the car.  Strange it took me this long to buy it on CD.

The album: Styx - Paradise Theater.

With the worn-out vinyl and the tape long-gone, I haven't played any of this music in years, but something funny happened as we played it in the van on the way home.  We both belted out the songs at the tops of our lungs and knew every word!  I guess I played it so much back in the 80's the music itself if imprinted on my brain.

It seems like they don't put out really good, solid albums like this any more.  The last CD I bought was probably My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade last year, which has a couple good songs on it, but isn't in the same league as Styx.
