I suppose it was inevitable, considering how big a mess Bush has made over the last couple years, or rather, how ineffective he has been with cleaning up the messes that others have made. Deservedly or not, he made being Republican a bad thing.
Now we've got a democrat about to take over the white house. That in itself was a given right from the get-go, considering how the left-leaning media hyped Obama as the second coming and all that. Hopefully, once he gets in office, Obama will realize just how bad radical changes would hurt everyone. Also, hopefully, he'll be more concerned with how to get re-elected in 2012, which means not screwing things worse than they already are.
Worse for me is how my state and local governments have gone to the democrats. People don't realize how lousy our governor has been for the last eight years, or how his female clone who will succeed him will continue the downward spiral of our state.
The absolute worst is the county commission. For years it's been evenly split between the liberals and conservatives, but not any more. It's set in stone that when the dems control the county, they WILL RAISE PROPERTY TAX. They've already voted to have a 'revaluation' early (which I thought was against state law.) That means the taxes go up without them raising the rate.
My disgust widens with the way the sheep in this area pass bonds. Every single one of them passed again, by a wide margin. When will people realize that money is going into a black hole and we'll have our property tax go right up again to pay for it (so we protect our city/county credit rating.)
So, as crap like "The Fairness Doctrine" and "The Assault Weapon Ban" (look past the name, it was dramatically more repressive against normal civilian weapons than against the very few who own military weapons) rear their ugly heads again, I just have to put my head down and hope the voters in this country realize what a huge blunder they've made in 2012.
